WHEN:  July 12th, 13th and 14th  2022. (The June workshop was moved to these dates because of Covid.)

We will meet at the Cogswell’s Grant,  60 Spring Street, Essex MA. This is a Historic NewEngland property and has  wonderful fields and stone walls, a farmhouse and interesting barns, and gardens and trees.

WHEN:   September.   There will be a second one in September 6, 7 , and 8 but the location will  be in Gloucester. I will let you know as soon as I have found a great place with the amenities that we need.

GOALS For Both Workshops: Work on at least one painting from start to finish on multiple days with guided instruction along the way. Painting  landscapes in this way, over consecutive days, will help you to produce your best work to date and you may find that you complete 2 or 3 fresh new oil paintings.

STRUCTURE: I will paint a demo on the first morning so that all of you will be able to see how I approach laying in a landscape as well as answer questions as I paint.  I have learned a lot from watching other artists at work and I think you will find it helpful. After my demo we will take a break for lunch then each of you will set up and work on your own paintings as I give you guidance as you go along. There may be time for 2 paintings in the afternoon if the weather is nice — I’m happy to stay as long as you like.

You can paint one-shot oil studies on the next two mornings depending on the day. After lunch you will work on your afternoon paintings and this can be very exciting because its usually where you start to see real progress! (the second day on the same painting). Everything is pretty much in the correct place so now we are getting the values right and paying attention to color. I will rotate around the group coaching as I go, giving you tips and strategy to pull off a winning painting!

The third day will be pretty much the same but at some point we will all get together and have a critique session where we look at all the work and discuss what we have accomplished.

COST of 3 day workshop: The cost is $300 for the 3 days. This cost includes the demos and hands-on instruction as you paint for the 3 days. I ask for half in advance to hold your place and the rest when you arrive.

If you have any questions please call me at 617–285-8313.  When you are entered into the workshop I will send a supply list and other details.

Please send checks to hold your place  or we can use Venmo or Paypal. Contact me if you want to use one of these.
